We have been developing our understanding of adjectives today :) First we identified adjectives in a story, discussed some all together to make some simple sentences more interesting and then tried some in our jotters (the children had to identify where an adjective would go, then rewrite the sentences in their jotters with adjectives that made sense).

Enjoying some ERIC (everyone reading in class) time and then having an opportunity to develop those all important social skills :)
Today, P4/5 helped me solve a really tricky problem! First, they discussed and shared ideas for how we could solve it. Then they decided who they wanted to work with or if they wanted to experiment on their own. They gathered any resources from around the room that they thought might help and tried it out! Once they found an answer, they tried it a different way to see if they got the same answer and prove that they were correct. Lots of mathematical thinking and reasoning. Thank you for your help :)
Today we read 2 stories that are alternatives to classic children’s tales. We read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs as told by the wolf and The Wolf’s Story (his side of Little Red Riding Hood). They all enjoyed hearing ‘the other side’ but were not entirely convinced :) Everyone then chose one as a base for their own stories this week. The writing was marvellous, lots of great ideas and details! When finished, children shared their stories in pairs or small groups and some children then read their stories to the class. Great reading aloud skills and also a great audience :)
Lovely literacy session this morning! Each group has settled into the routine and carousel, they knew exactly what they were doing and when and everyone worked so hard and were respectful to other groups learning too (and kept the noise to a great level). Every group tried four activities today - reading with me, writing station, IDL on IPADs and a Finger Gym station to help the muscles in our fingers and hands become nice and strong :)
