Hello everyone,
I hope we all enjoyed the holidays. This week we have been focusing on where and when in our colourful semantics writing. See our silly sentences below. Unfortunately they won’t all fit on the display but the children have worked really hard on these. Next week is Walk to School week, every child that takes part will be given a pencil and a sticker. Halloween is also fast approaching.

September has gone by so fast, I cannot believe it is October already.
Last week was maths week Scotland. We did lots of maths activities in class as well as in our outdoor learning. We played naughts and crosses using sticks and stones, we kept tally marks of our scores. We practised ordering items by size and gathering different numbers of items. We have been busy doing some awesome artwork this week! We have a couple thing to finish off so will upload pictures at the end of the week. Jake was our star of the week this week for amazing effort and listening I all curricular areas. It is officially autumn, with the nights getting darker and slightly colder.
As every week it has been busy in P2/3. We have continued to revise our sounds and work hard on our reading books. This week in numeracy we have been counting in 2s and learning about tens and units. In our outside learning we cleaned up the playground using the litter pickers. We use the natural materials outside to create pictures. Using our imaginations we were able to create some super artwork. Our outside learning work will be displayed on our tree in class. For writing we have been using colourful semantics and looked at what? this week, writing some silly sentences. Hello everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed the holiday on Monday. It has been another busy week in P2/3. We have been working hard on our number work looking at number bonds and understanding bigger numbers. We have been revising the sounds m, r and d this week, as well as doing lots of reading in our groups. please check your children’s reading folder for homework and reading tasks. In writing this weeks we used our knowledge of colourful semantics to write some silly sentences using who? And doing. Everyone worked super hard on these and the sentences were amazing! We practised our doing words by miming these in small groups and pairs a bit like charades. Over the next few weeks the children will be taking part in some music sessions with Katie at YMI (youth music initiative), these are virtual sessions via teams. the children all listened really well during our second session yesterday and showed some good rhythm and musicality. We also enjoyed some more outdoor learning this week. While we were out in the woodlands we discovered that there was lots of litter, the class decided it would be a good idea to help tidy this up. So they headed back inside to find Mr Guthrie and returned with the litter pickers. The children demonstrated some amazing team work and great enthusiasm while outside. This weeks star of the week is Summer who has been growing in confidence and throughout her learning, with super work in both maths and writing this week. As part of our learning this term we are doing lots of outside learning in the woodland area and around the school grounds. We have enjoyed exploring different senses and using natural materials to help us with our letters and numbers. We have had some amazing teamwork happening between the pupils which has been lovely to see.
Over the coming weeks we will explore these natural materials further, using materials to be create some art work. Our outdoor learning will take place on a Wednesday. In maths we have been working on numbers before and after, as well as working on our number bonds to 10, 15 and 20. We continue to work on mental maths skills throughout the week. Our literacy focus over the last 2 weeks has been the use of colourful semantics. This helps break down different parts of the sentence and build these up to create focused well structured sentences. So far we have explored who? And doing? Ask your child to show you the actions for each of these. We have also been looking at emotion works and discussing our feelings and how different things might make us feel. Stars of the week have been Isla for amazing maths work skip counting in 2s all the way to 60. This weeks star is Isaac for brilliant work in both french and maths, he has demonstrated amazing listening skills in french lessons with Mr Edmond. Over the past week we have been busy bees in class!
We have enjoyed taking part in some outdoor learning, focusing on numbers before and after in maths and revising our sounds in phonics. We enjoyed making some BEES in our art work, we used collage using different paper and gluing these onto a template. This weeks star of the week was Taylor for doing some amazing independent writing! On Friday the boys and girls enjoyed getting out and about in the community with Mrs Angus, taking part in a community litter pick. They were all amazing, safe and worked well together. :) Welcome everyone to P2/3 blog page!
